Field Trip Prep Sites
Here’s some links to prep you for our upcoming field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago. Click on the logos from the different websites to visit them, then close the new window that opens to return here. Check out as many as you can to be ready to view the work of the impressionist and post impressionists at the art institute when you go.
Art Access from the Art Institute of Chicago has images that you can click on to read more about the artist as well as the work of art. Many of these will be seen when we visit the galleries!
Biography.com has short biographies of some of the prominent impressionist painters, with a small quiz that you can take after reading the bio’s!
The museum of fine arts in Huston has a fine presentation, but be sure to turn down your sound low,there is no presenter, only music.
The Metropolitan Museum of art offers a nice time line of the impressionist movement.
The Metropolitan Museum of art also has a time line of the post-impressionist movement.
Also from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this site’s focus is on the few American impressionist, Mary Cassatt.
Mark Harden’s Artchive: “Impressionism” has a great general info section and links to all the major impressionists.
The national Gallery of Art has a series of tours from their collection. There are quite a few links at the bottom of the page, so don’t forget to scroll all the way down.
This site has some great images and information about the images for you to see.
The Museum of Modern Art brings us this interactive site focusing on the nighttime work of Vincent VanGogh.
An interesting site that compares the work of Cezanne to the work of Pissarro.
Don’t forget that you can do your own web searching for content on the impressionist and post impressionists as well!
